HRS4R – HHU has signed up
Better conditions for researchers

Modern equipment and programmes are not the only prerequisites for good research – appropriate framework conditions and an integrative culture also form the foundations for excellent work. And the goal of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers – for short: HRS4R – is to establish precisely these aspects at Heinrich Heine University. HHU has held the “HR Excellence in Research” award since December 2018. The first on-site evaluation is scheduled for 2024 – in the course of this, it will become clear how much has been achieved to date.

HRS4R – this abbreviation stands for better framework conditions for researchers at HHU, which are to be improved on an ongoing basis, while existing measures will also be highlighted.

Postdoc guidelines, English documents, bilingual Internet and Intranet sites, training programmes and much more are already available at HHU. These activities are part of a range of smaller and larger measures aimed at improving daily working life for researchers.

“We want to highlight what is already available at HHU and combine suitable measures. None of these steps will mean any additional work for researchers,” emphasises Dr Uta Brunner, who is coordinating the HRS4R processes under the project management of the Vice President for Research and Transfer. “We welcome all input that supports the plan of measures for HRS4R.”

A great deal can also be done at university level to improve working conditions further: Where HHU can exert its influence in this regard, it pursues this goal. That is why the University was granted the HR Excellence in Research award. To ensure the award is retained, preparations for the evaluation are currently underway. Transparency, communication and fairness are binding aspects here.
