Language buddies for refugees

Target group: Everyone who is interested in helping refugees learn German. The refugees are taking preparatory German courses at HHU. Regular/guest students and employees at HHU or people from outside the University are cordially invited to get in touch with us!

Objective of the programme:
To integrate refugees who want to study by supporting their efforts to learn German.

Brief description of the programme:
Over a period of at least three months, all partners meet up around once a week for a chat. The partners decide together whether the roughly one-hour get-together takes place in person or digitally/by telephone. Participants are free to choose the topics of conversation. Day-to-day situations, cultural similarities and differences or even content from the course books of the participants can be discussed.
Our experience shows that not only the refugees learn a lot from the exchange! 

New buddies are always welcome! You can start at any time and need to commit to a period of at least three months.

You have the option of gaining a certificate in accordance with the HHU volunteer guidelines(German only).
