Open Campus Winter School 2026

REVIEW

31 January 2025 saw the start of this year’s Open Campus Winter School at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf organised within the framework of the “NRWege ins Studium” state programme initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. A total of 82 potential students with a refugee background were given the opportunity to take an intensive course in the summer semester 2025 to prepare them for studies in Germany.

Professor Dr Heidrun Dorgeloh, HHU Vice President for University Culture and International Relations, welcomed the participants at the kick-off event. The programme for the day offered opportunities for the participants to get to know each other in interactive ways and campus tours, as well as presentations and interviews on topics such as “language buddies for refugees” and “studying at HHU” among others. There was also a detailed Q&A session on the intensive preparatory German courses with the partner language schools. The Open Campus Winter School at HHU concludes with a language test, which qualifies participants to start studying (Test DaF (“German as a foreign language” test), DSH (German language university entrance exam for foreign students) or telc (European language certificate)).

We wish all winter school participants all the best for the course and welcome them to the HHU community!
