hhu.bibliography – New university bibliography
Making publications easier to find

Who is publishing what, when and where? It is becoming increasingly important for universities to maintain a good overview of their publication activities, as publications are a key indicator of academic performance. Data are frequently used in comparisons, making them relevant for personal careers, institutional ranking lists and third-party funding. A new university bibliography is currently being developed at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU). This service offered by the University and State Library (ULB) aims to establish a central source of data on all publications by academics affiliated with HHU, document these publications and make them publicly accessible. It is currently running in a pilot phase with the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics.

The new HHU university bibliography makes all publications easier to find.

The involvement of all publishing academics in the future is critical for the success of this service, so please report your publications. “I look forward to receiving suggestions and feedback, and call upon all publishing academics to get involved to ensure that the full publication output of HHU can be registered,” says Kathrin Kessen, Managing Director of the University and State Library.

Everyone who reports their publications can generate their own lists based on a variety of aspects for personal purposes, e.g. inclusion on their own website.

During the pilot phase, publications will be accepted from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics. All types of publications related to activities at HHU from a publication date of 1 January 2020 onwards can be reported. The ISBN or DOI are sufficient or alternatively the title, year of publication and publication type can be provided. Publication lists can also be sent by e-mail to the ULB editorial team for inclusion in the bibliography. The ULB editorial team will handle the validation, processing and linking of the data with the organisational units at HHU.
