In the foyer of the central library
A tree for wishes

“There comes a time when wishing helps again. ...make a wish!” To paraphrase lyrics sung by the band the “Toten Hosen”, there is something new in the foyer of the University and State Library: The Christmas tree that has traditionally stood in the foyer for decades is also a wish tree this year. Everyone is invited to decorate paper stars with their thoughts – not about material things, but rather about non-material things that inspire mutual, hopeful perspectives.

A wish tree can now be found in the foyer of the central library – everyone is cordially invited to share their dreams and thoughts here.

The cream-coloured stars with red edges have the words “I wish ...” written on them. The sentence can be completed in gold pen and the stars attached to a golden cord. Everyone who studies and works at HHU is cordially invited to record their wishes on the stars over the coming weeks. The campaign will be covered on the social media channels. In the new year, the thoughts will then be creatively combined and presented in the foyer.

The wish tree is an idea realised jointed by the University management and the University and State Library. “In these times of uncertainty, many are wishing for a greater sense of connection with others. Here on campus, we want to send a clear signal of togetherness by gathering our wide-ranging ideas for the future,” says Kathrin Kessen, Managing Director of the University and State Library, also on behalf of the Rectorate.

The tree can be accessed during the central library opening times. Further information
