Visiting day at Heinrich Heine University

University open day: Welcome!

Heinrich Heine University invites both school pupils and their teachers in upper school (Oberstufe) to come and visit us. Come and see for yourself what Düsseldorf uni is like – in various ways:

Information lectures: Do you like the idea of studying? – Want to know what you need to do?

The Student Service Centre offers a roughly 45 mins. information lecture on study opportunities and the procedures for applying for a university place and enrolling. Please contact us to arrange an appointment – (almost) any time is possible!

Attend a lecture: Studying, what’s that like?

Attending a lecture is a good way to get a glimpse of what studying is actually like. This is only on offer during the lecture periods however, i.e. from early April to mid July (summer semester) or mid October to early February (winter semester).

You can find an overview of all courses on offer in a given semester, listed by faculty, in the online lecture timetable. To prevent too much congestion in individual seminars, we recommend you speak to the respective lecturer in advance. Please contact us so we can help you choose and get in touch with the appropriate people.

Visiting the library: Orientation in the “forest of books”

An ideal way to round off a day visiting the campus is to take a tour around the University and State Library. You can make individual appointments with Ms. Silke Fleck for tours (at any time except from October to mid November). Telephone: 0211/81-12900 or by undefinedemail.

Our Student Service Centre

The SSC is the first point of contact for students and members of HHU and anyone who would like to become one. During our opening hours (www.hhu.de/ssc) you will find lots of information flyers and brochures about our study programmes, our orientation offers and campus life in general. You will also find the Student Service Centre, the Student and Examination Administration (SPV) and the International Office under the umbrella of the SSC.

Lecture visits: Studying, what is it like?

Attending lectures (with the exception of medicine, dentistry, psychology, musicology and the Master's degree programmes) is a good opportunity to get a taste of everyday student life. However, this offer can only be taken up during the lecture periods, i.e. from the beginning of April to mid-July (summer semester) or from mid-October to the end of January (winter semester). Please refer to the published dates and deadlines for the exact times.

Please note: experience has shown that many lectures are cancelled in the last two weeks of the lecture period due to exam preparations or exams.  Please also note: most lectures are offered in German, but there are also a few lectures in English.
