Now in the central library
Thoughts from the tree of wishes

“I wish to be able to complete my studies successfully soon.” “I wish that you are now at peace up there.” Wishes like these hung on the decorated tree in the University and State Library in December. Our Christmas wish tree brought together more than 700 thoughts from students, employees and guests. From 23 January 2025, some of these personal points of view will be projected onto a glass facade in the foyer of the central library. They showcase the impressive diversity of attitudes and perspectives at HHU.

Thoughts from the tree of wishes can now be viewed in the foyer of the central library, inviting you to pause for a moment.

The wish tree is an idea realised by the University management and the University and State Library. “We have all sent a clear signal of togetherness,” says Kathrin Kessen, Managing Director of the University and State Library. “It is great to see how many people noted their thoughts and discussed the wishes around the tree.” The majority of the wishes related to studies, but there was also a focus on the political situation as well as on family and friends. In addition to the many non-material wishes, there were also material ones and in addition to many serious wishes, there were also funny ones. The projection will showcase a variety from all areas.
